How are you all doing this lovely Monday? I hope well!
I've been missing you all so much. My Acer laptop is completely down, but thanks to my new baby, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, I'm able to blog happily again. I plan to even purchase a keyboard for this thing as well...yeah I'm going all out! LOL.
Today's post is about Spring 2013 makeup trends. These are the trends that were seen on the runways and will be seen on a street near you! Now keep in mind: trends don't have to be followed, they can be remixed to fit your style!
Let's get into it...
.. 2013 Spring Makeup Trends..
From neon pouts to aqua covered eyes to softly spoken smoky eyes, this spring is all about pretty statements. It can be over the top or easygoing.
Fuchsia Lips

Trade in your oxbloods and reds for something a bit more flirty this spring. A fuchsia lip is all the rave once again! It's girly, it's pretty and it makes a statement. Whether it's a neon fuchsia or one that looks red, it's all the lips might crave. Go matte for a full days wear or glossy for a full on pouty lip. This was seen on models for Dries Van Noten, Oscar de la Renta, Missoni and Rue du Mail. Brands that have great fuchsia lipsticks include, but are not limited to: M.A.C Candy Yum Yum, Milani in Rose Hip, Maybelline Color Sensational in Fuchsia Fever, Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Yu and Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in L'Eclatante. To elevate this lip, highlight your Cupid's bow.
Matte Skin
|
Balmain model. Matte skin, nude eyes, natural brows...natural beauty. |
Trade in that dewy look for more of a HD camera friendly finish. Matte skin is the new love for these upcoming warm spring days. Matte foundations last longer throughout the day, tend to move less on the face and help perfect the skin. Matte finish foundations give a lot more coverage and tend to be much more opaque. Seen on models for Balmain, Valentino, Parabal Grunge and Ralph Lauren. Foundations such as MUFE Mat Velvet, Chanel Mat Lumiere (
my personal fav for clients) and Dolce and Gabana Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation are great to try out. For a simpler way, use a power foundation.
Lower Lash Line Mania
|
Model for Stella McCartney. |
Even though cat eyes will continue to reign, this spring think about the placement of your liner. It's time to rock a semipunk, tough lower lash line and water line. Just as the infamous makeup artist Pat McGrath has said, "
altering liner placement creates a different expression." You may have spotted this look on models for Lanvin, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg. Instead of a basic black liner, try colors such as blue, teal, purple, gold, ivory and green. Don't line your upper lash line.
Soft Feminine Smoky Eye
|
Vera Wang model with a feminine and elegant smoky eye. |
Drop those black and steel colors and trade them in for a more feminine, wearable and elegant smoky eye. Go for warm browns, taupes, champagnes and flesh tone colors for your next smoky eye. Why? It's universally flattering, soft, elegant, work friendly and seductive without being vampy. Sported at fashion shows for Vera Wang, Proenza Schouler, Jil Sander and Alberta Ferretti. Pair this look with a nice strong and structured brow.
Blue Eyes
|
Models for Moschino wore blue on the waterline and lower lash line only for a nice pop! |
Blue has become the eye color for spring it seems. All shades of blue from indigo to periwinkle to cobalt to sapphire. Any blue will do. It's been seen the last four seasons (
Spring & Fall for 2011 & 2012) and it's back! Spotted at Dior with Swarovski wings, Giorgio Armani, Michael Kors and Nanette Lepores. Brands with beautiful blue shadows include, but are not limited to: Lancome Color Design Eyeshadows in All Made Up & Little Blue Dress, L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Endless Sea, NYX in Morocco, M.A.C in Contrast and L'Oreal Hip Duo in Showy. Pick a blue that compliments you.
Nude Lips
|
Peter Som models had bright wash of colors on the lid with a nude lip. |
At last, the nude lip that's always a staple. Select a nude that compliments your skin tone to avoid looking washed out. There are nudes that have peach and pink based hues or even a tan or brown base. Select wisely! Rock a nude lip with a bare face, colorful eye makeup, smoky eye or when your lashed out. This lip has been spotted for all designers year round. How you rock a nude lip is up to you. Some brands I personally love include Lancome Color Design Lipsticks in Trendy Mauve and Natural Beauty, L'Oreal Colour Riche in Fairest Nude, M.A.C in Buoy-o-Buoy (
discontinued), CoverGirl Lip Perfections in Sultry & Delish and Dior Rouge Nude in Grège.
I hope you all enjoyed this post. This is only part I of the Spring 2013 makeup trends. Part II will include nail colors, eye colors and blushes to sport! Tutorials will come when I have access to my belongings again.
Enjoy your week!
What's your favorite spring trend? What's your least favorite?
Amazing trends! Thanks for sharing ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the post! Part 2 coming next week. If you have any requests don't hesitate to leave them below :-)
DeleteI am loving fuchsia lips, perfect for spring and summer.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Fuchsia is a very versatile color that can be worn for any and every occasions! I love it all year round.
DeleteI absolutely adore your blog!! Loving the bright coloured lip!!
ReplyDeleteI found you through BBU Blog Hop
Thank you. Bright lips are my absolute fav all year round. Thanks for following my blog!
DeleteLove these looks - this is the first spring that steers away from pastels, in a way, so I really enjoy this freshness :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I mean pastels are always in because they are light & airy. I love the fresh, bronzy look though. It's the easiest look to accomplish no matter the amount of time we have to get dressed.
DeleteGreat post .:) I love bright colors..:)
ReplyDeleteThank you. Bright colors are amazing
DeleteI love the bright lips! I just bought a bright coral but I haven't mustered the courage to wear it, yet, lol.
ReplyDeleteApply the coral lipstick lightly and you should be fine. You can try a peachy nude lipgloss on top of the lipstick to lighten it up.
DeleteNice info!! I'm practicing on bright bold colors for lower lashlines. hehehe. Tough challenge but I want to pull it off so bad.
ReplyDeleteGirl only thing you can do is practice, practice, practice! You'll get it eventually :-)
DeleteI love the fuschia lips! I've been seeing some drawn on bottom lashes on the runways, not a fan of that trend at all though! :P
ReplyDeleteFuchsia is a fav lip color of mine. As far as bottom lash line goes, I'm kind of loving the trend to a T, especially the blue and green colors
DeleteGreat post! I love using bright lipstick, I can get away with less makeup (perfect when on the go!).
ReplyDeleteBright lips are awesome! Less makeup and a bright lip should be a staple look.
DeleteI like the bright lips and most of them. The lower lashline one is my least favourite. It looks a bit too "out there" for me personally.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree, it is a bit out there, especially if it's a bright/bold color, but it definitely is workable!
