*Keep in mind, these items were purchased prior to me doing the 100 Day Spending Ban....now with that said, back to the regularly scheduled blog post*
Today I will be doing a review on the Maybelline Color Whispers which is another extension of Color Sensational line from Maybelline. I was and still am in love with the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters, so I figured I should give these a try since I didn't try the L'Oreal version.Maybelline says:
Dare to Whisper. Get truly translucent gel color from Color Whisper by Color Sensational from Maybelline. Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel deliver sexy, soft, see through color with a touch of shine, without the heavy waxes & oils found in traditional lip color.
The Color Whispers are a huge extension to Color Sensational line with 20 shades to choose from. A range of bright colors to transparent ones, you'll find a color fit for you.
Price point ranges anywhere from $5.70 to $7.49 USD depending on where you purchase it from.
Packaging for the Color Whispers are the same idea as any other Color Sensational lipstick. A transparent colored case corresponding to the lipstick color and the silver bullet. The only difference is that the Color Whispers don't have the color sticker on the bottom, just the name and number on a basic gray sticker.
Staying power and pigmentation is pretty good compared to any lip butter I've tried. The finish is glossy and semi-matte so it lasts quite some time on the lips. The color payoff is good, buildable as any other lip butter would be.
The application is pretty smooth and even. I have not experienced any streaking with these at all. Maybelline advices that you apply the Color Whisper from the center of your lips to the outer edges, but any way would be fine.
Now onto lip swatches...
Mocha Muse (#20) is a creamy muted mocha nude. My favorite shade from the bunch.
Lust for Blush (#25) is a muted cool blush pink with mauve undertones.
Pin Up Peach (#30) is a warm peach with slight coral undertones. It also has slight gold reflects in it.
Cherry on Top (#50) is a sheer cherry red with fuchsia undertones.
Mad for Magenta (#95) is a sheer magenta pink with strong purple undertones.
Overall, I absolutely love these and plan to get my hands on a few more of them. Especially the lilac color.
What are your favorites from the Color Whispers?
Mocha Muse and the Peach one...so pretty!!
